The other night, the Philadelphia Pretzel Factory on MacDade Blvd and Laffayette was robbed. I happen to know both the manager and supervisor pretty well and after hearing what happened, agreed with them that it was an inside job.
Apparently, someone with a key entered the store wearing a dark hoodie.. knew where the camera’s were pointed to avoid them recording any distinquishing features… knew where the money was kept after closing.. knew the layout of the building… knew where the office was… etc.
They came away with a few hundred bucks but caused the store and the people who work in there alot more grief. Because now, everyone with a key is a suspect and there’s a very real possibility that some innocent worker will either quit or be fired because of a theif.
Here’s my thing.. I worked in enough places over my 43 years to know when I’m working for someone good or bad. The management team at this particular Phila Pretzel Factory are the good guys. They’re as nice as can be but also fair. Which in any business is unusual.
So all this just makes it worse because you’re screwing over nice people who are now going to have to take a fall because someone thinks it’s easier to just steal what they want then to earn it.
There’s alot of that going on these days .. between bikes being stolen and the whatnot.
What ever happened to earning what you want? What ever happened to having a work ethic and putting your head down at night because your honest?
I personally know that they know alot more about the person who broke in then they’re letting on and that because the cameras filmed in color they were able to make out some things that will positively identify the person.
And I can’t wait for them to get caught.

That is pretty sad.
I won’t buy my kids new bicycles because of theft. My son made a bicycle from scrap pieces of bikes he picked from Big Trash Day last spring. A unique bicycle with bent rim on back wheel and all. Sadly, even that CRAPPY bike was stolen.
Kids don’t care……they steal anything these days. If my kids come home with something they never had before I am the first one to say…..where did that come from?
Some parents are not totally involved in their kids’ lives these days. And that is due to Life in todays economy and other factors in today’s times. That’s all I’ll say about that.
